See VideoReflections & Conversation on A Jury of Her Peers by Susan Glaspell concerning the application of the play to the justice system and women’s rights in the USA
In my opinion, I see Trifles as a Feminist play due to its power plays that occur between genders. It’s For example, Although the beginning is a bit unclear, by the end it is evident that the women have won; they have played the game right and “knot it” Alongside this, not only are the women the main characters, but also the they are portrayed as a much smarter group than the men. This is discussed in the video as well, but one speaker describes the story as both a feminist piece and as a, “female chauvinism.” The author highlights both the isolation of women to society in addition to occupancies of exclusion between other women. As a whole, I think the play fits perfectly as feminist theatre due to its recognition of women resistance.
